How to update mods to 1.eight
Some people are having issues updating their mods to 1.8. Here's a handy guide to help you get over those bug.
Updating your mods
You're probably having issues with updating your mods. Otherwise, why would you lot be reading this? I had bug too and spent quite a while petty with .mod files until I decided to get to the dev diary on the topic[forum.paradoxplaza.com].
The 2nd mail service is titled Instructions for Modders with an "Updating mods" department. That contains all the info you'll need. I've pasted the contents hither:
Currently most mods take one modernistic descriptor, usually ModName.modern. This is at present split in ii: ModName.mod which needs to have the name entry and a path or archive entry and descriptor.mod inside the modernistic binder, which also needs the name and has everything else. Updating them ways creating this descriptor.mod and copying virtually things from ModName.mod into that. And then substantially: Keep name and path or annal in your current .mod and move everything else into descriptor.mod inside the modern folder.
- If you have an effect with creating the descriptor file you should note that you can simply re-create the content of the .modernistic file into the descriptor - this should not crusade an issue.
- Think that the descriptor.mod file should exist inside the mod folder.
- If y'all get a credential error when attempting to upload a mod make sure you lot have something in the description section - you can merely put your current clarification from the workshop hither. If your workshop description is to long for this then update the mod with anything in the description box and then add your full description later.
And here'due south a step-by-pace walkthrough if you lot need more guidance:
- Go into your Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Fe Iv\mod folder.
- Copy and paste the .mod file of the mod you want to update into that modernistic's individual binder.
- Rename the new .mod file "descriptor.mod".
- Open up the HOI4 launcher, become into the Mods section, and click on the Mod Tools push.
- Go to Upload a modernistic, select the mod, and enter the mod's description (since you're updating information technology, paste the workshop description and make whatsoever needed changed).
- Await for information technology to upload, and you're done.
You can also alter the version to "1.viii.*" to avoid having to update it once again for every hotfix. When y'all're updating a modernistic, information technology won't show annihilation under Version. This is fine, information technology'll still upload. One time you've finished, you can repeat the process with whatever other mods you want to update, and they'll prove as compatible on the launcher.
Note: The .mod file inside the Hearts of Iron IV\modernistic folder MUST NOT be saved with a byte order mark (BOM) if it is saved in UTF-8 format. Either save information technology as UTF-8 without a BOM, or save it with ANSI or ASCII text encoding if the file does not include whatever non-English characters. (Cheers Mr Tsubodai for pointing this out in the comments.)
Yous need to sign in or create an account to do that.
